Huacaya, Female, Proven, Bay Black
ARI# 30022310 | DOB: 7/24/2005
A lovely bay black female with perfect conformation and a rich, warm maroon tone in her great, uniform fleece. If you want color, she would be a great addition to your program! Cheyenne is a wonderful mom. She births easily and has given us outstanding healthy cria. In the last 4 years she has delivered 3 males, only one of which was not stud quality. We got such a wonderful cria from her two years ago when we bred her to RIVA RIDGE, a HEMINGWAY son.

A gorgeous bright medium brown fleece, a benevolent personality, and a magnificent lineage make Regulus a wonderful sire! This half-Peruvian huacaya beauty was our only male cria in 2010, and even at a month old, the lively little male had high hopes of being a stud one day.

The great names in Regulus’ bloodlines include DRACULA, MSA PERUVIAN ACCOYO SANTINO, and PERUVIAN HEMINGWAY. Regulus has the second-best fleece fineness at Polaris Alpacas Farm, second only to our Zaniah. DENSE and CRIMPY and BRIGHT with a micron count of 19, his fleece took first place at 2012’s CABA fleece show, where judges’ comments included “Love the brightness!” and “Quite fine!” CABA's fleece judges in 2013 have also said 'FLEECE IS QUITE UNIFORM THROUGHOUT!'

This alpaca’s temperament is wonderfully even. We even took him to a kindergarten class to be touched and examined by lots of little hands, and Regulus did beautifully!

We named Regulus after one of the brightest stars in the night sky, the “Heart of the Lion” in the constellation Leo. The star Regulus is a young solar body that spins incredibly rapidly – so fast that if it went 16% more quickly, the outward force would actually be stronger than its own gravity! Every 8 years, Venus passes Regulus at its rising in the first week of September, combining to be gorgeously bright. The most recent occurrence was in 2006. Maybe 2014 will be a great breeding year for our Regulus – though we expect him to be a consistently superior sire!
